Lampshade Size Guidelines
When choosing the right lamp shade there are many factors to consider, such as the size of the shade, colour, shape and fabric. It can feel very overwhelming and no one wants to be disappointed once they get their lampshade home and find it doesn’t quite work in the room or on their lamp.
Below are some tips I recommend to guide you.
Lampshade Shape
There are many different designs and shapes of lampshades but the most popular are;
Empire: The empire lampshade is a classic all rounder for floor and table lamps, a slightly tapered shade that is larger at the bottom than the top. The best suited fabric patterns would be those that don't have straight lines (eg stripes and checks are not the best choice for this shade).
Drum: The drum lampshade is a more modern choice, a versatile shade that is suitable for ceiling pendants, table and floor lamps. As the top and bottom rings are the same size and the sides are straight, check and striped patterns look really smart and are best suited to a drum lampshade.
